LOCAL SIGHTS AND EXPERIENCES (The closest bigger town is Redlands, CA).
Joshua Tree National Park 1 hour away. Hiking, rock shops, nature centers, unlimited photo opps, vegan AND/OR burger restaurants and plenty of odd desert characters.
Oak Glen- just 10 minutes away, a good local trail for hiking (Oak Glen Preserve), apple pies, apple orchards, and more. Also just a nice little loop thru the mountains for a little drive.

The Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art & Culture This just opened! In Riverside, CA.
REDLANDS, CA- Spend some time in historic Redlands (the original “Palm Springs,” countless gorgeous victorian mansions with citrus groves), a gorgeous town with some great restaurants and just a really amazing drive around with all the fruit groves and mountain vistas. Nice to take a walk down State St, the main drag in town. Be sure to have a look at the Redlands Bowl, which is where the longest running free music series in the nation takes place every summer. It reminds me of Sequoia Park in Louisville 🙂 except bigger! Also, Laura’s favorite library she has ever visited, the Smiley Library, is a great place to read some books and have some quiet time- you can sit in the courtyard with your book under the Kumquat trees! Our fav restaurants are Olive & Citrus $$$, Sosogu Ramen and Japanese Barbecue $$ Abelinos Mexican Food $
Big Bear Lake and Recreational Area Hiking, mountain air, a beautiful lake, and shops and restaurants.
San Bernadino National Forest Hiking in the mountains, or you can drive around and see all the recent wildfire scars and mudslides.
Best restaurants close to wedding in Calimesa and Yucaipa: Mexican: Arteaga’s Catering $ German Fusion: Haus Bistro $$ Thai: Thai Chili $ – $$
Other close sights: Idylwyld, CA parks and hiking, countless beaches are 1+hr away, Disneyland is 50 miles away, and of course Los Angeles museums and sightseeing.
